Educating for the future
The learning journey at Bethany honours the developmental stages in a student’s life. Based on leading educational research and the best of today’s technologies, we prepare students for the future by teaching them how to think critically and creatively, how to communicate effectively and how to lead and work both independently and collaboratively.
Educating for the future
The key learning areas
We follow the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) approved curriculum in the key learning areas of:
Religious Education
As a Catholic school we also have a strong religious dimension that runs through all the KLAs and is also formally recognised as the KLA of Religious Education.
Bethany students take part in formal Religious Education every day, based on the new Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese curriculum, Encountering Jesus. This curriculum invites all students to consider how the teachings of Jesus Christ can apply to their lives.
Religious Education
Education today is so much more than facts and figures. Our school is a place where imagination and love of learning are treasured.
Curiosity is at the heart of all good learning, sparking imagination and creative thinking. Our collective job is to model, encourage and foster this spirit of curiosity.
We believe schools should be places of wonder, exploration and endless possibilities.
As the building blocks for all learning, we have a strong focus on Literacy and Numeracy throughout our learning and teaching programs.
Literacy
As literacy is key to all learning, Bethany students experience a comprehensive program of reading and writing education. They have daily opportunities to engage in listening, reading, and writing activities, enriched by a diverse range of literature.
Our Reading Recovery program provides early intervention for students with literacy challenges. With individualised support from a specialist teacher, children can quickly become confident readers and writers.
Numeracy
Our teachers provide a strong foundation in maths with a contemporary curriculum that focuses on core numeracy skills. Students develop proficiency across all areas of mathematical reasoning, including measurement and geometry.
Students with maths difficulties can receive specialist intervention through our Extending Mathematical Understanding (EMU) program.
We offer a varied curriculum that is engaging and relevant!
